GENERAL CLASS GUIDELINES

All classes are taught at City Knits. Payment in full is required for class registration. Students are expected to purchase their materials from City Knits. Material costs are in addition to class fees. However, registered students receive a 10% discount on yarn purchased during class sessions.
– Class size is limited to 8 students.
– Advance registration is required. Classes fill quickly so register early.
– Minimum enrollment of 3 students.
– PLEASE Check the website for class schedule updates.

Keep in mind, if you miss the start date of a class we can often catch you up with private lessons over lunch or during off hours. That way, you can easily slip into next week's class.

INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTION:
NOTE: Any topic is available by appointment as a Private Lesson, $20 per hour or as a custom scheduled class. Please call ahead to reserve time.

BUILD-YOUR-OWN CLASS:
Is there something you would like to learn that is not listed? Special classes with a topic of your choice can be scheduled for a minimum of 4 people. We'll make time for you in our schedule.

CLASS RATINGS:
Beginner (BEG) – I've never held needles or it's been at least 10 years.
I can knit, but not purl or cast-on.

Advanced Beginner (ADVBEG) – Can knit, purl, increase, decrease and knows the long tail cast-on. Understands stitch orientation. Finished a hat, and more than one scarf - not just garter stitch. Can recognize mistakes. Eager to learn: texture cable and lace patterns.

Intermediate (INT) – Completed at least one garment that requires knitting to gauge, or one sock or mitten. Can follow a written pattern and correct simple mistakes. Eager to learn: button holes, picking up stitches, more intricate texture cable and lace patterns from charts, garment assembly and finishing.

Expert (EXP) - Can knit texture, lace or cable, modify patterns, or design own.

City Knits Private Leson & Special Help Policy:
The first 15 minutes of instruction/help is free when using City Knits yarn. The meter starts to run immediately for foreign yarn. Thereafter, $5 will be charged per skill: e.g. teaching a cast-on, grafting, button holes, special bind-offs, seaming, assembly, major ripping and place-finding. Pattern consultation or adjustment could be at no cost, but pattern rewriting could be more than $5 depending on the time involved.
