Sox in the City: It's hot hot hot!!! City
Knits is determined to live up to our most recent honor: Strut's
Readers' Choice Award: Best Girls' Night Out for Hobbies, so why not a
little "Sox in the City" for us girls.
Q: What's better than City Knits' fabulous collection of sock yarn?
A: Hanging out at Knitty Sits! (Knitty
Sits is the City Knits' upstairs knitting lounge at the Fisher
Building) Hang out with friends to learn the ins-and-outs of
socks. We're even willing to define sox broadly for those who are not
solely interested in soles: isn't a hat a sock for the head, or mittens
- socks for the hands? I even have a story about socks for
roosters . . . . Starting this Thursday evening, March 20, 2008
5:30-8:00PM. Call to reserve your spot. SOX HOT SPOTS: Knitter's Magazine, Ravelry and several of our favorite vendors have declared this the "Year of the Sock."
City
Knits is proud to be a "Sox Hot Spot" for the quality sock yarns
of Cherry Tree Hill: Sock-it-to-Me, Super-Sock fingering and DK;
Mountain Colors' Bear Foot, Skacel's Socka Fortissima, Trekking XXL and
others, and Southwest Trading Company's, way too cool, Tofutsies. Knit
your brains out, dream up new socks, and enter the design contests
sponsored by our SOX HOT SPOT Vendors. Winners will be featured
in a new Sock book being published by XRX just to show case the best
designs. For contest rules click here.
In
addition, we have great new yarns as well as old friends
including Berocco's self patterning wool Sox; Cascade's
Fixation; Crystal Palace's Maizy, Panda Cotton and Panda Silk;
Louet's Gems Sportsweight; Lorna's Laces, Misti Alpaca's new
alpaca, wool, silk and nylon blend; Plymouth's Happy Feet and
Sockotta, Conjoined Creations' Kinky and unique Flat Feet, and more . .
. . .-
And of course we have the Addi Turbo and Addi
Turbo Lace needles that are the standard of excellence for knitting sox
one or two at a time on circs. For traditionalists, who can
resist the satin finish of Rosewood Sox Sticks from Lantern Moon?

CITY KNITS MT. CLEMENS NEWS and EVENTS
Finishing 101 with certified Master Knitter, Sandie Oden Seams
are a make or break point for most knitters. Even a beautifully knit
garment can look awful if the seams are done poorly. Learn: seaming
stockinette, reverse stockinette, garter stitch, and seed stitch.
Tackle seaming single and double ribs, horizontal-to-horizontal edges
(bound-off), bound-off edge to knitted edge, sleeve seams and
setting-in. April 20th, Time - Noon to 4:00PM Cost - $28.00
ENCORE!! Another Fabulous Fair Isle Class with Shelly The
fantastic color work typical of Fair Isle knitting can be intimidating
to the novice knitter. We can help you "unravel" the complicated look
of these patterns. You'll learn both stranded and woven
techniques for carrying your yarns, working in the round, and reading
color charts and patterns. We will also discuss the differences in
working your colors with only one hand, or with both at once! After a
bit of practice, we will cast on for a warm winter headband or hat
(pattern included). April 13th from 1-4:00PM $24.00.
